Our Story: A Homegrown Aussie Family Tradition

Welcome to the We Scream family! If your favorite way to eat ice cream is straight out of the tub with a spoon, or a fork, you’ve found your right people.

We Scream is a proudly independent, family-owned Australian business born out of a lifelong love for sweet treats, a bit of backyard ingenuity, and a lot of family teamwork.

 

Our story actually starts back in my high school days. Walking home in the Aussie sun with my girlfriends, we had a ritual: stop by the local corner shop, grab a tub of ice cream, and dive right in. In fact, we were so dedicated that we always kept metal spoons packed in our school bags, ready to go. Even back then, nothing brought people together quite like sharing a tub.

Fast forward a few years, and that love for ice cream was passed down to the next generation. Life grew to include my four beautiful, busy kids. Our favorite family tradition became crowding onto the couch for movie nights, passing around a tub of ice cream.
 

But with five pairs of hands sharing one tub, we had a constant battle against the Aussie heat. After a few rounds, the ice cream was melting fast, little hands were freezing, and the condensation was making a total mess. I knew there had to be a better way to save our family movie nights.

Born in lockdown, Built by family 

The turning point came during the COVID-19 lockdowns. As a single mum juggling life at home, I decided it was time to solve our ice cream dilemma once and for all. Armed with a sewing machine and some neoprene, I put together the very first prototype of our insulating cooler.
 

The kids and I tested it right there on the couch, and it worked like magic! The ice cream stayed firm, hands stayed warm, and the messy drips disappeared. The kids loved it so much, they insisted we couldn’t keep it a secret. With my four biggest cheerleaders backing me, We Scream went from a kitchen-table idea to a real family business, ready to share with ice cream lovers across the country.
